Getting Started with Stokly
Welcome to Stokly. This guide will help you get from zero to a fully configured account in about 15 minutes.
1. Create your company account
When you sign up, you create a tenant — an isolated workspace for your business. Everything you do (invoices, customers, employees, journal entries) lives inside your tenant, separate from every other company on the platform.
- Go to the Register page from the login screen.
- Enter your company name, your name, email, and a strong password.
- You'll be signed in automatically and taken to the dashboard.
2. Complete your company settings
Before issuing your first invoice, configure your company details so they appear on documents correctly.
Navigate to Company Settings and set:
- Company name, logo, and address — appear on invoices, quotes, and payslips.
- VAT registration number — required for VAT-registered vendors.
- Default VAT rate — South African standard rate is 15%.
- Banking details — appear on invoices so customers know where to pay.
- Default terms and conditions — automatically populate on new invoices and quotes.
3. Configure email (SMTP)
To send invoices, quotes, and payslips by email, configure your SMTP credentials under Company Settings → Email Settings:
- SMTP host (e.g.
smtp.gmail.com,smtp.office365.com) - SMTP port (587 for STARTTLS, 465 for SSL)
- Username and password
- "From" name and address
Click Send Test Email to confirm everything works.
4. Meet the dashboard
The dashboard gives you a real-time view of your business:
- Revenue and outstanding balances
- Recent invoices and quotes
- Low stock alerts
- Upcoming birthdays and work anniversaries (if you use the Payroll module)
- Activity feed showing who did what, when
- Announcements to your team
You can rearrange or hide widgets by clicking the Configure Dashboard button.
5. Next steps
Depending on what you need, jump into:
- Creating your first invoice
